Sergey G. Vassetzky
Academic degree
Dr. Sci. (Biol.)
Academic title
chief scientist
Place of work
Koltzov Institute of Developmental Biology, Moscow, Russia
Area of scientific interest
Oogenesis, cytoskeleton
Main scientific achievements
Sergey Vassetzky made important contributions to the study of oogenesis in lower vertebrates, obtained new data on the participation of cytoskeletal structures in the molecular mechanisms of amphibian oocyte transformation during maturation. Dr. Vassetzky studied the localization of actin-containing proteins in maturing Xenopus oocytes and showed the role of protein kinase cascades in the regulation of oocyte maturation.
