Oleg L. Serov

Dr. Sci. (Biol.)

Federal Research Center Institute of Cytology and Genetics Siberian Branch of RAS, Novosibirsk, Russia

At present, scientific interests of Oleg Serov focus on genome analysis including of different levels from 3D organization to epigenetic landscape in spontaneous and CRISPR/ccas9 induced megabase-sized chromosomal rearrangements in human and mice.

Most significant advances of Oleg Serov were obtained during research of reprogramming of somatic genome by cell fusion with embryonic stem cells in which first was shown that reprogramming started at heterokaryon stage (when parental nuclei were in common cytoplasm) and finished after 3-4 divisions of tetraploid hybrid cells. Unique feature of this reprogramming is realized alternative manner – the hybrid cells have either phenotype and pattern of expressed genes similar to somatic cells or embryonic stem cells.
