His research interests focus on the mechanisms of specification and cell differentiation, animal body plan establishment and diversification, molecular and cellular basis of regeneration and asexual reproduction. Roman’s work has been published in a number of international peer-reviewed journals, including Developmental Dynamics, EvoDevo, Evolution and Development, Development Genes and Evolution, Mechanisms of Development etc. Hi is a member of the Scientific Council for Development Biology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Laureate of the MAIK Nauka/Interperiodica Prize for the best publication in the journals of the publisher (2001)
