Speciation, chromosome changes, natural and experimental hybridization, species definition, sex determination in mammals
Ways of emergence and maintaining chromosome changes and karyotypes of distinct animals (mammals, beetles, fishes, reptiles) were studied for almost 40 years. The focus of research since 2000 has been genetics of sex determination in mammals without the Y chromosome and Sry gene, search for key genes, and analyzing the behavior of sex chromosomes in meiosis for model species, mole voles Ellobius.
Over 100 scientific publications, including papers in Chromosoma, Chromosome Research, Scientific Reports, Genes, Genetica, Comparative Cytogenetics, and other journals.
Subject Editor of Comparative Cytogenetics.
